SDI is authorized by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine to issue Breeding & Production Identification Documents to equines not eligible for registration in a studbook, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/1012.

SDI’s Breeding & Production Non-Pedigree Passport is suitable for any horse in the Republic of Ireland that does not qualify for a studbook passport issued by a Breed Society.

With an SDI B&P Passport, you are compliant with EU and Irish legislation requiring all equines to have a valid identification Document. And SDI will enter your horse into the DAFM Central Equine Database at the time of registration, so it can appear in your annual census, be sold, and be exported. You can name your horse at the time of registration at no extra charge. If you are the breeder, you can use a prefix or suffix as part of the name at no extra charge.

Your SDI B&P Passport also allows your horse to travel and compete both here in Ireland and abroad.

If your horse’s pedigree can be determined in the future, it may become eligible to be upgraded and entered into a Breed Society’s studbook. SDI will help facilitate this transition for eligible horses through parentage testing and advice about studbook entry requirements. If your horse is proven to have warmblood genetics and an Approved sire and damsire, it may be eligible to be upgraded by the Warmblood Studbook of Ireland and be issued an Irish Warmblood passport.

SDI offers excellent service with guaranteed fast turn-around times. Choose between one hour, next business day, two business days, or five business days service. Click on the passport Registration Application link for details.
